However, at present, the lawn maintenance service has yet to make an appearance. It's worth noting that this property is merely a rental and not my own home; I currently reside here while completing my second year of law school.

Permaculture represents a design system that harmonizes with nature rather than opposing it. Embedded within this approach is a series of principles that emphasize learning through observation and hands-on experience. Over the past decade, I've had the opportunity to dwell in diverse ecosystems and USDA zones, allowing me to conduct experiments with various plant species and environments, ranging from mountainous regions and forests to densely populated urban areas, including condominiums subject to HOA regulations. My journey began in North and Southeast Dallas, and I now find myself in Houston's Third Ward, where I've resided for the past year and a half. Although this region boasts a slightly more tropical climate compared to North Texas, I remain astounded by the nutritional yield derived from what my landlord tirelessly endeavors to maintain as mere grass.

As of February, my yard plays host to several functional weeds:

1. Carolina Geranium: Recent research suggests the presence of potentially antiviral compounds such as geraniin, ellagic acid, and hyperin in this species. Additionally, it's noted for its capacity to aid in the removal of heavy metals.

1. Spiny Sowthistle: Despite its prickly exterior, this plant is edible, bearing a resemblance to the dandelion and emitting a white, milky sap. Though it’s relative: the dandelion, also makes an appearance (and enjoys favorable public relations), and the prevalence of spiny sowthistle in my yard currently surpasses that of its dandelion counterpart, particularly in mid-February.

2. Cleavers: This tenacious weed shares a botanical lineage with coffee and offers versatile uses. Its seeds can serve as a coffee substitute, while the shoots can be boiled for consumption or juiced.

3. Henbit: Cherished by chickens and esteemed by bees and butterflies, this herbaceous plant is not only edible but also attracts beneficial pollinators.

4. Taro: Revered as one of the earliest crops cultivated by humanity, the tuberous taro plant holds staple status in numerous cultures. Characterized by its expansive leaves and affinity for water, I utilize taro in conjunction with bananas to purify greywater, as detailed in the concept of a Banana Circle.

5. Bur Clover: This stuff is everywhere in my year. Is is not edible but is a legume that helps lawn fix nitrogen so everything else can grow.

About the facilitator:

Kambo Dieta - Required Protocols

*Fast 10 to 12 hours before the ceremony; only water is allowed. It would be best if you did not eat before the ceremony. Most ceremonies are held in the morning for this reason.

*Detox from all alcohol, caffeine, drugs, tobacco, cannabis, pharmaceuticals, medications, and alternative medicines for at least three full days before and after the ceremony; longer is encouraged - 7 days before and after is the standard

*Detox from any animal products, including meat, dairy, animal by-products such as eggs, for at least three full days before and after

Optional:

Depending on how deep you want to go into the cleanse or if you are planning to work with

Ayahuasca, and you are healthy, i.e., you have normal blood, sugar, and heart levels:

For a deeper cleanse, you can stick to a keto or a straightforward diet of veggies and

rice/grains/beans, low salt, no sparkly drinks, Kombucha, bread, comfort foods, and do

Kambo Application/ Ceremony

*Opening the space with Sacred Ceremony. Prayer and Invocation for healing

*Energy Cleansing Meditation

* Rapée and Sananga application ( not required – for more details, please ask)

*Writing out intentions and prayers for the Kambo Cleansing Ceremony

(Connecting to your intention before the ceremony is also encouraged)

*Burning of the dots, “Gates,” on the skin using Tamishi Vine

*Drinking of 2 liters of water before application (on an empty stomach)

*Application of Kambo Secretion Medicine onto Gates (burns) * first timers receive a test dot before applying the total recommended dose

*In the First 2-3 min, you may experience a rush of heat, an increase in heart rate, discomfort, and light nausea

*Then, for about 30 minutes, you experience an inward journey with the Kambo Frog Spirit into

your higher self and truth is accompanied by the physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual purge.

*Physical purge includes vomiting and, in many cases, bowel movements, tears, mucus, vocal expression, shakes, and emotional catharsis; sometimes, a person can experience swelling of the face, throat, and hands. ( most of these symptom subside after 20/30 minutes)

*After the ceremony and for the following 1 to 2 weeks, you can expect to feel lighter and

* on medication for Low Blood Pressure,

* with Heart Disease, including but not limited to Heart bypass surgery, enlarged heart, Implanted cardioverter defibrillators, Pericardial effusion, Congestive heart disease, Excess fluid in the heart sack, or Heart valve replacement surgery

* with a blood clot or taking medication for one

* that has experienced stroke and or brain aneurism.

* with an organ transplant or taking immunosuppressants or diuretics

* recovering from a major surgical procedure

* has received any chemotherapy or radiotherapy within the past year

* with a severe Mental Disorder, excluding Depression, Anxiety, or Addiction (it is great for these) / (case by case, please consult)

* Taking ANY prescriptions medications (case by case, please consult)

* unable to stop taking any life-supporting medications, or that is consuming drugs and alcohol and unable to detox for more than 48 – 72 hours.

* with current or severe epilepsy

* Pregnant or nursing

* with Addison’s disease

* that has taken 5 MEO DMT (Bufo) in the past month

* that received an enema within 3 days prior

Born in Washington DC, but moved around the country during her school years
